NYT reporter held by Taliban freed by Brit commandos

One soldier killed in mission to rescue Stephen Farrell. Farrell, who manages the AtWar blog for the Times, was attempting to visit the site of a NATO air strike when he and his colleague, Afghan journalist Sultan Mohammed, were seized.
