Michelle Lang named the winner of Canadian World Press Freedom Award

Michelle Lang, a reporter who was killed on the job in Afghanistan, has been named this year's winner of the Canadian World Press Freedom Award. She worked for the Calgary Herald. Lang and four Canadian soldiers were killed last Dec. 30 when the armoured vehicle they were in struck a roadside bomb. The Canadian Committee for World Press Freedom Award includes a cash prize of $2,000 and a certificate of honour from the Canadian Commission for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
