Rogers beats expectations in Q2

Rogers Communications Inc. on Tuesday posted better-than-expected profit in its second quarter, even as its wireless operations came under pressure from intense competition.
For the period ended June 30, Rogers had earnings of $467 million, or 85 cents a share, compared with $464 million, or 80 cents a share, in the same period last year.
Revenues came in at $3.1 billion, up three per cent largely on growth in its media segment.Analysts had forecasted earnings of 81 cents a share in the quarter on revenue of $3.1 billion.
