Bertelmann CEO quits suddenly, CFO moves in

Bertelsmann, the owner of such media powerhouses as Random House, broadcaster RTL and many others, has brought in "energetic" CFO Thomas Rabe (left) to be the new CEO. This after chief executive Hartmut Ostrowski (right) unexpectedly resigned "by mutual consent". The German media conglomerate said the 46-year-old Mr. Rabe, a rising star on the corporate German landscape, would take over Mr. Ostrowski's post on Jan. 1, one year before the CEO's contract was due to expire.
